Q708. Recommend a good dentist in India for UK Resident visiting India . . .

Question: Dear Mr. Chand, My wife and I are visiting India for three weeks during the month of November from UK. We keep hearing a lot about dental tourism in India and we were wondering if you can recommend a dentist to us. I hear one can get a full teeth cleaning in India for about £5. Is this true or just a scam to get patients? Answer: Dental costs are indeed way lower in India than UK or any of the other countries like USA or Canada. As with most medical/dental services there are no set fees for teeth cleaning. Dentists in India can charge what ever they feel is the right amount depending on their services and costs of providing such services. I can say that normally you could get your teeth cleaning done in India by a dentist for about Rupees 500 to Rupees 1500. I recently got my teeth cleaning done in India and paid Rupees 1200 for the cleaning. This works out to about £12. I believe the average cost in UK for dental teeth cleaning is around £50 so this should still be a bargain. You don’t mention where in India you plan to visit so can’t recommend a particular dentist. I do however have an article on the web titled ‘Dental Tourism in India | Finding the right dentist’ you can read the article by clicking HERE
