Q: Dear Sir, I am NRI , Indian citizen from Karnataka state. I am working outside India since 7 years. Can I buy agricultural land in my state in my name.? can I buy agricultural land in my wife name? my wife is also with me.

Answer: Agricultural land can be purchased only by farmer's In Karnataka State.
I have heard that some people (including lawyers) who claim they have ways to get around such requirements. Whether they can act within the frame work of the law I do not know.
