Q144. Apply for OCI in India
Question: Hi I am an Indian citizen residing in UK. I will be applying for my UK citizenship in few months. And by profession i am a Doctor and i have graduated from a foreign University. Now to get Medical council of India Reg as a Doctor i need to do 1 yr Internship. But Because of my UK citizenship is still due,i am waiting to get my British Passport and then leave to India to do Internship. As i want to do Internship ASAP after i get my British Passport,i would like to Know the process. I know that the first step is to surrender my Indian passport and then apply for OCI card. But i don’t want to wait for 3 months,so can you please tell me what are my options once i surrender my passport to go to India and do my Training. Thank you Regards, Kumar
Answer: When you get your British passport and Indian visa, you can go to India and apply for OCI in India.
