Q378. Get USA Visitor Visa to attend marriage in New York
Question: Most of my family members are living in New Jersey in the United States of America. I am the only relative that is settled in India and have never visited the United States in the past. In May, 2013 my brothers son is getting married in New York and I would like to attend the wedding. Could you give me an idea how I can get a visa to visit USA for a short time to attend the wedding. Thank you in anticipation of response H Chawla (Mohali)
Answer: Step by step Information on how to apply for a tourist visa (non-immigrant visa) is provided on this website at in an article called ‘How to apply for USA Tourist Visa from India’ Make sure you get a invitation letter from your brother to attend the wedding as this will help during your visa interview. Basically at the interview a visa officer will determine that you are indeed a genuine visitor going to the United States for a particular purpose, you have sufficient assets to pay for your trip and you have ties to India to ensure that you will not stay in the United States illegally and return to India.
