Q451. Did not renew OCI Visa as I did not know it was required. Can I travel to India with Old and New Passport?

Question: My son and daughter are below 20 both are Canadian citizen. Have new passport but not renewed the OCI visa as we didn’t know. Tonight going out of India and will return back on 6th.can they travel with both the new and old passport. Dr manon saxena

Answer: As per rules, all applicants who are 20 years of age or younger, must get fresh OCI documents be re-issued each time they get a new passport. As per new guidelines issued by the Indian Embassy in USA, OCI Visa holders must also carry their OCI booklet along with their foreign passport where the U Visa is stamped. In case of emergency, people can carry their old and new passports! (See excerpt from Indian Embassy below)
