Q663. Procedure to get birth certificate for passport in India
Question: Sir, Requirement of birth certificate for passport. I belongs to rural area. My date of birth is 06 Aug 1991. What should I do to get birth certificate. Please explain full procedure. Thank you. bhardwaj
Answer: Only those who are born prior to January 26, 1989 can provide other documents in lieu of a birth certificate if they do not have a birth certificate. Since you were born in August 1991 the passport office probably will insist on a birth certificate as per rules. To get a birth certificate, contact the concerned municipal offices of the area where you were born. (See question/answer #528)
