Q694. Lost OCI passport & Booklet - How to get duplicate OCI Visa in UK

Question: Hi, I am shancy Jacob. I born in India and now living in UK for the last 10 years. I got the British passport and the OCI with the OCI booklet 2 years before. Now, I lost my British passport with the OCI booklet and I did not have a copy of my OCI or the OCI booklet. I am applying for a new passport. I only got the copy of my old passport. How can I apply for the OCI in this situation. I am planning to go to India in first week of December. Please let me get quick reply. Thanks a lot Shancy [November 3, 2015]

Answer: If you know your OCI U Visa sticker number or OCI file number then you can apply for duplicate OCI Visa documents through the OCI Miscellaneous Services website: Log in to: https://ociservices.gov.in/onlineOCI/ and then click to select ‘OCI Miscellaneous Services’ from the menu. You will require your OCI U Visa number, this may be on your old passport. My understanding is that in case both the passport along with the OCI booklet have been lost and the applicant does not know the OCI Visa number or OCI file number, then they have to get an appointment with the Indian consulate OCI officer in their jurisdiction. You will also have to provide a copy of a police report to show that the loss of passport/OCI documents have been reported. Generally the time frame is about two months for duplicate documents if everything is in order document wise. Tourist electronic visa may be an option in case you cannot get your OCI in time.
