Question: My friend mother want to visit NEPAL FOR 3 Day She is Holding USA Passport & also having certificate of Registration overseas citizen of India now she is in India & want to fly Kathmandu can she fly with that or require visa for NEPAL. PL Guide me Thanking you Regards VINAY KAPADIA
Answer: OCI is valid only in India and not in Nepal. As a US citizen your friends mother will need a visa to visit Nepal. Generally citizens of most countries can get a Nepal visa either from the Nepalese missions abroad or on arrival in Nepal at the point of entry. The only exception here is that citizens of Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Cameroon, Somalia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Iraq, Palestine and Afghanistan must get a visa prior to their arrival from any Nepalese missions abroad. Those opting for a visa on arrival in Nepal pay the visa fee at the airport. The fee depends on the number of days selected for the visa. Currently the fee for Nepal tourist multiple entry visa is: • 15-day multiple-entry tourist visa fee 25 US$ • 1-month multiple-entry tourist visa fee 40 US$ • 3-month multiple-entry tourist visa 100 US$ Tourists may stay no more than 150 days in any given calendar year. Overstay of visa can cause a lot of problems such as fines and/or arrest!
