Q873. How to get TAX Residency Certificate from Saudi Arabia
Question: I am an NRI residing in Saudi Arabia for the last 18 years, I have made some investments in India over a period of time and since these are maturing, I am now told to produce TAX RESIDENCY CERTIFICATE from Saudi Arabia to avoid double taxation in my capital gains. How and what is the right procedure/approach to produce such certificate. I know I have IQAMA the residency permit. will it be enough to prove my residency that I am an NRI and working in Saudi Arabia? Can any one of you please help? I am really struggling to get an answer to this question for so many days. Thanks, Balasubramanian
Answer: My understanding is the taxation authorities of Saudi Arabia do not issue tax residency certificates. The residence visa [Iqama] issued to Saudi Arabia residents should be used as proof Saudi Arabian residency. Perhaps you should check with the institutions where you have your investments on how to proceed.
