Q1011. Documents required by Foreign Tourist to get SIM card in India

Question: Dear Sir or Madam I looking for answers and having found your website, I am grateful if you have plenty of them. You have stated that it is possible to get a SIM card for ones unlocked foreign mobile phone, but have not indicated what documentation is required by a person living abroad but visiting India periodically. Your answer relating to the documentation required to obtain a SIM card appears to address the issue from the perspective of a person living in India. Could you please enlighten me? Kind Regards

Answer: Documents required by foreigners to get a phone SIM card in India are: • Photocopy of your passport (and the original document) • Photocopy of your visa (and the original document) • Proof of address in India where you are staying The validity of the SIM card issued to foreigner’s is generally the period their visa is valid for.
