Q1155. Got OCI at age 51 Just Renewed British Passport Must OCI be renewed
Question: Hi, I had my OCI when I was 51 years old, now I have just renewed my British passport, will I need to renew my OCI? I am now 61 years old and my understanding is that if your over 50 years old you don’t need to renew your OCI, but able to travel carrying your old passport with you. Answer: Your understanding is correct! While OCI documents must be renewed by those who got OCI visa prior to reaching age 50, there is no such requirement for those who got their first OCI visa when they were already 50 years or above. The requirement to carry old expired passport with original OCI stamp has also been discontinued as your OCI booklet is now proof of OCI status.
