Q1158. Transfer OCI from Canadian to USA passport

Question: Hi, I have a question. I am a dual citizen Canadian and American. My previous OCI was on the Canadian Passport and I wish to transfer it to my American Passport. Please provide the procedures. Regards,

Answer: Previously OCI U visa was pasted on foreign passports of OCI holders and an OCI booklet issued. My understanding is that pasting of OCI visa on foreign passports has been stopped now and only the OCI booklet is issued to OCI holders. To correct your OCI record to reflect your American passport, you may be able to use the OCI miscellaneous services. There are five categories for which changes can be made to OCI records using the OCI Miscellaneous Services facility offered online by the authorities Services that can be availed through OCI miscellaneous services are: 1. In case of issuance of new passport. 2. In case of change of personal particulars viz. name, father's name, nationality etc. 3. In case of loss/damage of OCI registration certificate/visa. 4. In case of manually filled in applications (discontinued now) mistakes have been committed by the Indian Mission/Post/Office while entering the personal particulars. 5. In case of change of address/occupation.
