291. Foreigner's will Loose PIO Card if divorce occurs
Q: Hi,
Friend of mine is holding a PIC Card and is a British National. After 8 years of marriage his wife (Indian) wanted to get divorce
from him... Would this divorce make the PIO Card invalid?
With best regards
Norma
A. I believe by 'PIC Card' you are referring to the PIO card. Your friend would have to give up his PIO card in case of divorce.
Foreigner's who obtain a PIO card by virtue of being a spouse of an Indian national or of a PIO, and later on he/she divorces the
Indian/PIO spouse, the Indian /PIO spouse is required to inform the authorities for cancellation of PIO card.
Tell your friend that no countries visa or citizenship is worth anything if one is not happy and continuing a relationship for the
sake of convenience does no one any good in the long run. Things always work out by God's grace!
