449. OCI holder from UK - Getting a drivers license in India
Questions: I am a British citizen with an OCI card. I have a UK driving licence. Our International Driving licence is valid only for 1 year and will expiry shortly. We have moved to India recently and need to get a driving licence for India. Can we get one? Please advise. Answer: Technically International driving licenses are meant for tourists visiting foreign countries for short durations. When living in a foreign country as a full time resident, a local drivers license should be acquired, in many countries it is required by law.
