Q553. Australian turned 18 and has valid child passport can still use passport
Question: Hi, My son who is an Australian citizen will turn 18 on November 27th. He is planning to travel to India on December 7th.
His child passport will expire only after a year from his travel date.
There will be no time for him to get an adult passport before travelling to india. can he still travel on his child passport.

Answer: According to Australian passport rules*:
An Australian Passport issued to a person under 18 years of age is valid for five years from the date of issue. If the holder turns 18
years of age while the passport has remaining validity, they may continue to use the passport until the expiry date.
