Question: Respected sir , I am a GC holder (24/1/17) and a pensioner (India).My surnames are different in my PAN card (father's name) and in my aadhaar card(husband"s name) .I am presently in USA.how do I change surname in PAN card. How to make corrections on your PAN

or Aadhaar Card online

1. Go to https://www.onlineservices.nsdl.com/paam /endUserRegisterContact.html 2. Select ‘Changes or Correction in existing PAN Data 3. Select category [such as ‘Individual’] 4. Complete form for all required and applicable fields 5. Enter your foreign mobile number use only 10 digits and this should work 6. Submit and you will receive a message on the screen: ‘We thank you for using online PAN application service of NSDL e-Gov. Your request is successfully registered with Token Number 00xxxxxxxx and the same has been sent on your email id provided in the PAN application. Kindly click below button to fill remaining PAN application form 7. Click ‘Continue with PAN Application Form. Then select by check marking the items you want to change such as Name, Date of birth etc. and make the required changes. Follow the on screen prompts to submit form 8. Uploading of scanned documents as proof of the corrections/changes may be required If not successful, then the only option is to contact the official authorities and seek help.

Father’s Name cannot be

changed on PAN Card records

It is mandatory for Individual PAN Card applicants to provide fathers name. Married woman applicant must also give father's name and not husband's name. Fathers name cannot be replaced by husbands name in PAN card records. The reasoning behind this may be that while a husbands name may change if the PAN holder marries again. On the other hand, fathers name cannot change for the life of the PAN holder. Remember, PAN is for life!

Change Aadhaar information online

Changes to Aadhaar records can be made online by visiting https://ssup.uidai.gov.in/web/guest/update However, I have not been able to log in to this link, others may have better luck! NRIs should be aware that Aadhaar is only for Indian residents and changes from abroad to Aadhaar records may not be possible. Visiting a Aadhaar enrollment center with proof of documents may be the easiest method of correcting Aadhaar information.
