197. Income tax clearance certificate for tourists
Q: dear sir,
I am British passport holder and have oci. i have no other income in India . i wants to stay India six months, do i require
income tax clearance certificate? please answer my question.
thanks.
A. If you stay in India for the purpose of tourism, do not have any income in India then you may not require a income tax
clearance certificate.
I would suggest you keep your currency encashment receipts or a record of how you financed your stay in India as proof
that your time in India was financed without working in India.
