Mohan Gupta Answer: Applicants can obtain “Nativity Certificate” from their respective state Governments in India. The government of India apparently has advised State Governments to instruct the concerned district authorities in their respective states about the issue of “Nativity Certificate” to OCI applicants*, after establishing their Indian nativity at village / Tehsil / District as also at urban level. Since you are from Punjab, approach the district authorities there in an effort to get a Nativity certificate. A good way to start if your confused would be to contact the Tehsildars or Sub Divisional Magistrates in the area where you were born and lived in India. You won’t be able to apply for Nativity certificate in Toronto. This has to be done in India. Perhaps some of your relatives can do the ground work for you.
