Question: Dear Sir

government colleges and universities in India

Thank you

Shobana soman

Answer: OCIs have parity with Non-Resident Indian in respect of all facilities in the education field as per Ministry of Home Affairs notification dated 11th April, 2005. OCIs will find three types of colleges in India: 1. Government colleges (State Govt) 2. Private 3. Deemed Universities Generally admission to most government colleges is reserved for Indian citizens. However, there may be some parents who get their children admitted to government colleges by not disclosing the OCI status of their children. Generally government colleges will not have NRI quota’s for admission. Other colleges usually do have NRI quota’s and a different fee structure for NRI children. For professional admissions such as medical, OCI holders are eligible for admission to professional colleges subject to the rules and regulations outlined by the State Government where the college is located.
