Now we all applied for Aadhaar card , my and my wife’s application was accepted, it is under generation. But my daughter application was not considered. She is six year old, studying in Kenya. They asked for the letter from the school, which we got, but they said they cannot proceed, as the child is studying in Kenya. Now how do I get my daughters adhaar card. Your reply on on my email I’d Willie great help. My email I’d is xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.com We al hold Kenyan passport, oci. Kindly advices Rajesh shah Answer: Whether the person is a foreign citizen or OCI holder does not matter when it comes to the issue of Aadhaar cards. The applicant must be resident of India. Aadhaar cards are for residents only! Question: As per the law, non residents or NRI or holders of oci can apply for Aadhaar card. They need is a Id proof and address proof. Indian Id proof can be ration card, pan card, driving license, voter card, letter from the gazetted officer letter, address proof can be schedule bank passbook, electricity, rental agreement, driving licence, voter card, utility bill. Rajesh shah Answer: I am not aware of any such law that allows non resident OCI holders to apply for Aadhaar Card. If you have information about such a law, then kindly share the text and source of this law with other readers. I will post your response on this page when received. My understanding is that Aadhaar card is meant to establish the identity of those people who are RESIDENT in India and to help such residents get access to various benefits that are provided by the central or state governments where these people reside. Any individual, irrespective of age, gender or citizenship, who is a permanent resident of India (not temporarily in India for visit etc.) and satisfies the verification process laid down by the UIDAI can apply for a Aadhaar card. There is no law that allows NON-RESIDENTS to apply for and get Aadhaar cards. Although some OCI holders who are NOT residents in India, perhaps still apply for Aadhaar cards during visits to India. They probably hide their foreign residential address and provided a local Indian address on their Aadhaar application. They are probably aware that their Aadhaar application would be rejected if they showed their permanent address to be out of India! Aadhaar card is for tracking people who are residents of India, residing in India permanently and has nothing to do with OCI holders who live overseas and visit India occasionally.
