Answer: There is no such facility abroad perhaps because NRIs, OCI and PIOs abroad are not supposed to have
Aadhaar Cards. Aadhaar it is meant only for Indian or foreign residents of India.
Despite what you read in some website, So far Aadhaar card is given to only those Indians & foreigners who live in
India. It is not for non-resident Indians. In January, 2016 India’s External Affairs Minister Mrs. Sushma Swaraj while
addressing the media on the Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas in New Delhi had stated that the government was planning to
allow NRIs and perhaps other persons of Indian origin such as OCI holders to get Aadhaar card. To date no
announcement that this has been approved has been made yet. To view a news article on this in one of India’s

Some NRIs may have Aadhaar cards which were obtained during their visit to India by claiming to be resident
Indians.
If your mother is a NRI residing in USA as a permanent resident then she should contact her pension provider bank
to advise them that due to her NRI status she does not possess Aadhaar card as it is not issued to non-residents. On
the other hand if she is simply visiting you, then she would have to get Aadhaar card and for this it is mandatory the
applicant be present in India to complete biometric scan procedure.
Applicants for Aadhaar card in India are required to furnish:
1.
Proof of Identity
2.
Proof of Address
3.
Proof of Date of Birth.
Aadhaar card is not possible without being present at any of the AADHAAR card center in India. Some websites may
offer NRIs, procurement Aadhaar card for a fee but they probably will just take your money and identity documents
that should never be given to strangers.
