Question: Dear Sir ,
Question: hello sir,my grandparents are Nepali and my father is living in india and my birth in Delhi 1979 i have Indian
voter card , aadhar card and pan card . can i hold indian citizenship for making passport?? please do clear my queries
early..thanks and regards
Mukesh
Answer: As per Citizenship Act, 1955* A person born in India on or after 26th January 1950 but before 1st July,
1987 is citizen of India by birth irrespective of the nationality of his parents. [*(1) By Birth (Section 3)]
If you were born in 1979 then you may already be an Indian citizen by birth and as an Indian citizen apply for an
Indian passport.
If you already have a Indian voter card you should have proof of Indian citizenship because only Indian citizens can
get Indian voter card.
