Q.979 PAN Card Online Application now changed & easier to fill

Question: Dear Sir I am hoping you can help me with my question. I was born in India but have since become a UK citizen. I have an NRI card. I would like to apply for a PAN card. Can I ask which application I use - the 49A or 49AA. And where do I submit the completed application and pay the fee's. I am based in the UK, Thanks Sanjeev Answer: Previously there was also a confusion for NRIs who are Indian citizens but living abroad as to whether they should use Form 49A or 49AA. Now this question does not arise. Form 49A is for those who are Indian citizens [regardless of which country they may live in] Form 49AA would be for those holding foreign citizenship - [such as foreigners, OCI & PIO holders regardless of which country they live in] Now PAN Card application form for those applying online has been changed and actually made more user friendly. Now when you go the online PAN card application on the Internet, applicants will find drop-down menus to select the application type.
