Q.1059 OCI Booklet a MUST for OCI holders traveling to India

Question: Hi I am not sure how this problem can be fixed regarding my OCI 1. My current passport has an OCI stamp on it with a OCI No. and U number on it, dated 31/10/2013 2. The OCI booklet is now misplace at home 3. I traveled to India few months ago, and i was asked for a booklet, in spite of valid OCI VISA on my passport. 4. Is it mandatory to keep a OCI Booklet when I travel, and how can i get it, Do I have to pay a fee for that as I already have a visa stamped on my current passport Please advise Sudha Bhalla Answer: The previous procedure of pasting OCI ‘U’ Visa was dispensed by the Government of India* in 2015. OCI holders to enter India now need not produce their foreign passport containing the ‘U’ visa. The requirement now is that they MUST show the OCI card [booklet] as proof of their OCI status and a valid foreign passport. Yes! it is mandatory now for OCI holders to carry their OCI registration booklet when they travel to India.
