Canadian Passport with OCI Visa

Question: Hi, I am in the process of applying for OCI miscellaneous as I received new Canadian passport. Unfortunately when I applied for the new Canadian passport, I selected the option of not receiving the old passport. Now, when I am applying for OCI new book, I don't have the old passport with U Visa sticker. How to apply now? will I get the new OCI booklet with out U visa sticker and even if I get the booklet, will I be considered as a person having U sticker or will the embassy will issue me a new U sticker? Thank you, Sincerely, Answer: The previous requirement to either get U Visa [OCI Stamp] transferred to new passport or carry old passport that had the OCI visa pasted on it was removed on January 29, 2015. Even for new OCI applicants OCI visa is no longer pasted on their passports. Immigration authorities in India have been advised by the government not to insist on production of foreign passports where U Visa may have been posted. The blue booklet referred to as OCI Card is all that is required to prove OCI status when entering or exiting from India. Vide circular No. 26011/06/2015-OCI dated 29th January, 2015 of Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, all immigration authorities in India will not insist on production of the foreign passport containing the 'U' Visa Sticker in the case of OCI Cardholders while they enter/exit India and the immigration clearance will be granted based on production of the 'OCI CARD ONLY'.
