Q644. Aadhaar card for UK Citizen with OCI living in India . . .
Question: Dear Sir,
As an OCI (UK Citizen), living in India for a long time, can I :
1. Obtain an Aadhar Card for me and my family?
2. Register my Aadhar card with my bank and the gas agent and get the benefit of the subsidy provided by the Indian government
to its citizens?
Appreciate your response and guidance at the earliest.
Thank you
J Fernandes
Answer: Regarding your two questions:
1.
Aadhaar Card in India is for all Indian residents regardless of citizenship. So you can get Aadhaar card for yourself and also
your family members who reside in India.
2.
Since you are now living in India, you can use your Aadhaar card where ever it is required for ID purposes.
Update January 2016: NRI, OCI and PIO may get Aadhaar see link below titled Aadhaar Card for NRIs - OCI & PIO pensioners.
