Q666. FRRO registration in India | Canadian passport holder

Question: Dear Sir/Madam I am born in India and acquired Canadian citizenship and OCI sticker I came to India living here since a year and half during this period my Canadian passport got expired and I got it renewed. Now I have a new Canadian passport and old Canadian passport with OCI sticker on it and also OCI booklet I do not have time to get my OCI sticker transferred to my new passport can I travel back to Canada with my old passport with OCI sticker and new passport I am 40 years old As I have exceeded 180 days of stay in India ,do I have to register myself in FRRO I am planning to travel back to Canada on 19 March 2014 Please advise Your advise will be of great help for me Thank you Regards Prakash.P Answer: There is no compulsory requirement to get your OCI visa transfered to your new passport until you reach the age of 50. You should be fine as long as you travel with both passports. OCI holders are exempt from registration with FRRO, so you need not worry about not having registered with FRRO as your stay exceeded 180 days.
