Cars that are registered in India can be used to drive across the border to Nepal for tourism purposes. The procedure to take your car across to Nepal from India is that the vehicle must be registered at the Nepalese border crossing check post and a Pass obtained. This document (Pass0 has to be returned to the Nepalese authority when crossing back into India. Applicable rules in brief are provided. Kindly note that rules and regulations can be changed by the authorities at any time at their discretion. Check with appropriate authority before driving across the border for latest information. For same day return visits there is no tax payment required. For overnight stay or longer periods of time, there is a fee between Rupees 250/ to Rupees 500/- per day depending on the type of vehicle.
