Q1236. Government worker in USA can get OCI
Question: Can U.S Citizen (Born & Brought Up in India) having Federal Government Job apply for OCI card?
Answer: Yes, there are no restrictions. US Citizen of Indian origin can apply for OCI. Whether they would want to is another question. There are some disadvantages for US Citizens getting OCI and these are mentioned in my book THE NRI GUIDE.
Update: Some professions such as those working for police force or military of foreign governments even if now retired may NOT be eligible for OCI
