152. OCI - Buying Property in India
Q. Can an OCI purchase property in India? Can the OCI make payment for that property from the money that comes from
outside India?
A. Overseas citizens of India (OCI) can purchase property in India except agricultural land.
When sending money to India for property purchases, use only legal banking channels so that there is proper documentation
of the money transfer. Try and make maximum payment for the property also by legal banking channels. This will help you in
the long run avoid a lot of problems and to some extent safeguard your investment.
