Answer: Application for getting an Arms License in India depends on the State of your residence in India. While the application form
for Arms License may slightly defer from State to State in India, the procedure is somewhat similar.
Applications for arms license in India are made on the prescribed form usually to the Deputy Commissioner of Police office in the area
where you reside in India. In case there is confusion on finding the appropriate office, applications can be made on the prescribed arms
application form to the District Magistrate of the area of residence.
A sample of the application form is available HERE. While the sample arms application form is for Delhi residents, the information is
almost similar to what most state governments require.
In India .45 and .38 bores are used by police and army personnel and civilians are not allowed licenses for such bores.
While the application procedure for an arms license may appear to be simple, it is not easy for everyone to get a license as one needs
to show the reason why they need an arms license before they can get one.
Can OCI get Fire Arms License in India
OCI holder can get an arms license in India provided they are permanently living in India and have a valid reason for acquiring a
firearm. Valid reasons could be for example hunting purposes or perhaps the requirement of carrying large sums of money etc. OCI
holders who periodically visit India for short periods will find it extremely difficult to get an Indian arms license.
