Q573. Renew OCI Visa - Travel to India with OCI Booklet is now required
Question: My son and daughter are below 20 both are Canadian citizen. Have new passport but not renewed the OCI visa as we didn’t
know. Tonight going out of India and will return back on 6th.can they travel with both the new and old passport.

Answer: As per rules, all applicants who are 20 years of age or younger, must get fresh OCI documents be re-issued each time they
get a new passport.
As per new guidelines issued by the Indian Embassy in USA, OCI Visa holders must also carry their OCI booklet along with their foreign
passport where the U Visa is stamped.
In case of emergency, people can carry their old and new passports! (See excerpt from Indian Embassy below)

In case of emergency, the applicant can continue to carry the old passport wherein OCI 'U' visa sticker is pasted along with
the new passport and the OCI booklet for visiting India.
*** It is important for the OCI card holder to carry the OCI booklet along with the passport having U visa sticker. Both
these documents should always be in the possession of the OCI card holder while travelling to India.
