Some PIO Card Holders may NOT be eligible to get OCI under current rules

There are many categories where people despite proof of Indian origin are not eligible for OCI. Take the example of a person working as a police officer in a foreign country, they are not eligible for OCI. Even their children are not eligible! Criteria where applicants who may have proof of Indian origin and yet may not be eligible for OCI are shown in the chart below. Kindly note that this is not a complete list. Rules, regulations can be changed by the concerned authorities at any time. OCI Applicants are advised to check their eligibility before applying.
