166. Travel on Indian passport after UK Citizenship approval Q: Hello Sir, I have a questions for you Q.1. I am planning to apply for British Citizenship in next month and need to know that once I apply for British Citizenship and it is approved. I will get the letter with confirmation and need to attend Citizenship Ceremony/Oath. As per the information on UKBA site, I can attend within 90 days. During this time I will have the Indian passport so Can I travel to India before taking the Oath and then after coming back will attend the Citizenship ceremony. I know once citizen is taken can't go on Indian passport but before Oath Can I go as I will still be on Indian Citizenship. Q.2 If I go for British passport and then get the visa stamp for India. Can I apply for OCI when go to India on Indian Visa with British Passport OR can I apply for OCI from India. Is there any time period that I can't go to India after Citizenship for some period OR can I go once OCI is done as my plan to go back to India for Good. Regards Hetal A. Once you are approved for UK citizenship you cannot travel on your Indian passport. As soon as your British citizen is approved, whether you get a British passport or not, you cannot travel on your Indian passport. If you travel to India with your British passport, you may be able to apply for OCI in India. There is no restriction once you get your OCI to travel to India. Your OCI visa should be valid from the day it is stamped on your British passport.
