a cell phone SIM Card in India

Q. My agricultural land papers in my village be considered as my id to get a cell phone Sim and Internet or not? A. I doubt that your agricultural land papers would be acceptable without other documentation. I would also be hesitant to give copies of such important documents for the purpose of acquiring a Sim Card. To get a Sim Card in India you need to provide your photograph, proof of identity and proof of address in India. Here is a list of what is expected. You can attach any of the following documents as Proof of Identity: • Income Tax PAN Card • Photo Credit Card • Voter ID Card • Passport • Arm's License • Driving License • Ration Card with your Photo In case the Proof of Identity document does not contain your address, you could submit electricity bill that has your information on it or a fixed line telephone bill as proof.
