Q: I want to buy an agricultural land in Maharashtra, but I don't have the proof of my previous generation that I am a farmer In such pls clarify, can I purchase the agricultural land for farming If yes, then under what notification or so? If no. then, what is the solution to purchase an agricultural land? Thanks & Regards, Ravindra Jojode A. Unless you have acceptable proof you can't buy agricultural land in India. Maharashtra is one of the stricter provinces when it comes to buying agricultural land. Sometimes I have heard people are able to get land rezoned from agricultural to non-agricultural and buy it as commercial land etc . . . The only way I am aware that non-farmers can acquire agricultural land in India is by way of inheritance.
