344. OCI Visa is not for lifelong period for some people - Who must Renew OCI Visa?

Q: My daughter is a US citizen and is 16 years old. She has an OCI card and the visa sticker on her US passport. That passport has expired now. Will she need to get a new OCI card? I was led to believe that since she is 16 years old, a new OCI card has to be applied for. Is that true? What is the point of getting the lifelong U visa then?Nri Book Thanks a lot, Sunil A. While initially people was led to believe that OCI was a lifetime visa and people could simply carry their previous passport that had their OCI visa stamp on it, to travel to India. This was later rectified and currently the rules specify that: Up to the completion of 20 years of age, new OCI documents have to be acquired each time a new passport is issued to the holder as their physical appearance changes. Between 21-50 years of age, there is no requirement to get new documents when a person gets a new passport. They can carry the old passport with OCI visa stamp to travel to India. (Must also take new passport) After age 50 new documents are required again and are then valid for lifetime.
