Car import to India for a maximum of six months can be done under the Carnet rules whereby temporary import to foreign countries is allowed for up to one year. India, I believe limits car imports into India under Carnet to six months. For more information on Carnet click HERE Contact a customs broker in your area who are familiar with customs clearance under the Carnet system and they should be able to help you understand the costs as well as guide you on the latest rules and regulations applicable to India.
