issued?

Answer: If time is of essence due to an emergency to travel back to India and Indian passport is lost, then travel to
India is allowed on the basis of an ‘Emergency Certificate’ that has to be obtained from the nearest Indian
Embassy/Consulate.
Generally in case of a lost or stolen passport, the passport loss should be reported to the local police and a copy of
the police report obtained.
To get a replacement for your lost passport, report the loss to the nearest Indian Embassy/Consulate. They will
require a copy of the police report. Gather all your identity documents that you have as this will also be required by
the authorities to confirm your ID prior to issue of replacement passport.
When applying for duplicate passport in case of lost or damaged passport, applicants are required to use the forms
applicable for "Re-issue" of passport.
