Q.952 Use same PAN Card acquired in India after changing citizenship

Question: Dear Sir I am retired government employee of India. I am getting government pension. Now my pension has reached the taxable limit. After my retirement I have moved abroad and accepted foreign citizenship (USA) I have also become OCI card holder. My concern is (1) Can I continue to use my PAN card number, for filing my tax return in India, which was Issued to me while I was in government service as an Indian citizen? (2) Can I make change of information request in this existing PAN card as foreign citizen? (3) Can I get Adhar number as a OCI Person? How to apply? Thanks Bankim. Answer: Regarding your questions.: 1. Since PAN is for life, you should be able to use the same PAN card number to file your taxes in India. 2. Yes, you can make changes to your PAN record. This can be done online. Step by step information on how to make changes to PAN are already posted in Question number 496. To view click HERE 3. To get Aadhaar Number (Card) applicant has to be physically present in India for biometric data such as Iris Scan & finger printing recording purposes.
