Q.1053 Aadhaar Update mobile number & NRI banking if no Aadhaar
Question: Dear Sir
i have applied for Adhar card from my home town in April this year during visit there. It is success . My relative checked it
online but i forgot to give my mobile no ( i have india mob no) and email. Also center operator did not tell me to give it, So
he could not download adhar because I can't get otp without mob no.
I tried lot to update mob no by giving them all details but failed. No good support. And website of adhar is not working
from abroad , so can't update form abroad online.
Do you have any idea , how to do it from UK i live.
pl help if u know.
2 ? is-
yesterday there is news on tv here that--
-if you do not update your resident ac in India with adhar no , before 31/12/2017, then it will become invalid/ inoperative.
means we can not operate it, can not do any transaction from it.
- Now banks and gov of India allows to open NRO a/c for NRI- FOREIGN PASSPORT holders there, So if we do not have
adharcard, how can we credit over 50,000 Rs in it without adharcard?
- thousans NRI has nro a/c there , and also so many have resident a/c there ,because previously living there, they buy
property and so on. When they sale it then need to credit money, how they do it without adharcard.
-they also adhar made compulsary to credit over 50th in it.
any info about this ? what nri will do .
pl reply thanks

Answer: The news you refer to on TV about your bank account being inoperative if Aadhaar number is not provided by
December 31, 2017 is true but it should not apply to non-residents who live abroad. Non-residents residing abroad and
holding NRO, NRE bank accounts should be exempt as Aadhaar is only for residents of India.
Only those who are eligible for Aadhaar must provide their Aadhaar numbers to the bank where they hold resident bank
accounts. This should not effect NRIs as they cannot hold resident bank accounts.
Check with your bank and they should help alleviate your worries, I’m sure banks in India want inward remittances to
continue and why they are not advising their account holders the effect of new regulations that may or may not effect
their non-resident account holders.
To update mobile number for Aadhaar the link to use is: https://authportal.uidai.gov.in/update-mobile-number but an
email address and mobile number must already be on record with UIDAI. Since you did not enter these the only option I
can think of is to contact the enrollment center for help. Since Aadhaar is for residents of India, there are no facilitates out
of India for any type of Aadhaar Card Services.
