Q.1140 Birth certificate for Indian passport NOT compulsory now

Question: My mother want to take passport,now she's in age 57,but she didn't have date of birth certificate and school leaving certificate,but he have aadhar card, how to apply the passport and details,what can I apply for passport, Answer: There is good news for your mother! even if she does not have have date of birth certificate and school leaving certificate as stated in your email, she can apply for an Indian passport. New Rules were announced by the Ministry of External Affairs on December 23, 2016 whereby they allowed the use of alternate documents in lieu of birth certificate for passport applicants. Passport applicants in India, in the absence of a birth certificate can submit any of the following: PAN Card Aadhaar Card driving license Voter ID card transfer/school leaving/Matriculation Certificate issued by the school last attended/recognized educational board containing the DOB of the applicant Assuming when you wrote he have aadhar card’ you actually mean she has an Aadhaar card, your mother can use her Aadhaar card to apply for a passport.
