Q.1141 Indian Air Force pensioner living in Canada - Transfer pension
Question: I am an IAF pensioner getting my pension in NRO acct in SBI, Cuttack, India
Can I get my accumulated pension ( rupees) exchanged and wire transferred
into my account in Canada? What is the latest ruling on this and the procedure
to do this? Thanking you,
Answer: Pension income received in India by a Canadian NRI can be sent to Canada from India. You should contact your
bank in India to set up the process of transferring your pension to your Canadian bank account. You will have to advise
your bank of your residential status, give them an application to transfer your pension income and complete the forms
required for transfer of funds abroad.
Kindly view an article titled ‘Documents required & Procedure to send money abroad from NRO Account’ to get an
idea of forms required and also view sample forms.
