Question: Hi I am living in australia and my indian driving license is going to expire in 7jan 2019. Is it possible to renew my license online from australia. My brother in india is able to provide all the information and documents needed. And i can also submit them online. I have a situation thet i can come back for the time being. Answer: It is not possible to renew an Indian driving license online from Australia. Actually there is no facility to renew driving licenses online from any other country. Also be informed that individuals who renew their driving licenses in India are now required to present their Aadhaar Card. Government has linked Aadhaar to driving licenses, perhaps to stop people carrying multiple driving licenses. Biometric data on Aadhaar can be used to identify people who may already have a suspended driving license and are applying for another one. Non Residents who currently have Indian driving licenses will find that they will not be able to renew their driving licenses unless they have an Aadhaar Card. NRIs are not eligible for Aadhaar but driving licenses are generally held by residents [regardless of citizenship] and all residents are eligible to get Aadhaar.
