Q648. Reached age 50, when must I apply for new OCI visa . . .

Question: Dear Sir,

I am currently 51 years old and have a OCI Card.

My USA passport does not expire for a few more years so do I have to renew my OCI card since I am over 50 or can I wait until I

get a new passport after the present one expires ?

Will I have any issues if I travel to India?

Thanks for your help,

Rao C.

Answer: Under current rules regarding renewal of OCI documents for those over 50 years: ‘re-issue of OCI documents is required after completion of 50 years of age once after issuance of a new passport.’ I don’t think you should have any problems traveling to India. If you are concerned check with the Indian consulate in your area of residence.
