Answer: Your question is not quite clear as to whether your father’s name was on the property as joint owner or were the properties bought by your father only in your brother in laws name? If your father’s name is shown on any of the property ownership documents, you should not be denied your inheritance as per your father’s will. The fact that the property was jointly bought, by your father and brother in law and your brother in law now claiming ownership to the property after your father’s demise on the basis of your father not being a farmer, is a flimsy attempt to deny you your inheritance. The only advice I can give you is to consult a lawyer.
