321. How to Renew driver

license from out of state

Q: Dear Sirs I would like to know the procedure for renewal of driving license for a NRI. I have few questions in this regard: 1. Do we need to renew the license only from the state and that the previous license issued from? 2. I have changed my residence to a different state but I dont have any residence proof of new location accept for property registration documents. What residence proof can be submitted. Is passport copy enough? 3. In case of item 2 can I apply for renewal from my new residence place/district/state.? 4. How to apply for an identity proof for a NRI since we go to India for a very short period during vacations and do not stay in one place (e.g. keep visiting relatives most of the time)? Proof of residence can be supported by documents like the passport, ration card, electricity or telephone bill, etc. Nri's going to India for a short period of time can legally drive with a International driving license. Indian driving licenses are valid all across India regardless of which State in India the license has been issued in.
