409. How long can OCI stay in India?
Questions: Sir
I have OCI with me. How long I can stay in India? Is there any change from January 2012? So far I know OCI holder can stay
as long as he wishes.
Please provide me correct and latest information.
Thank You,
Manhar Bax
Answer: There are no changes to the OCI rules as of January 2012 that I am aware of. OCI holders can stay in India for as
long as they wish.
Note: There is however one important factor that OCI holders living in India should be aware of. OCI visa requires that the OCI
visa holder have a valid foreign passport.
OCI holders who are living in India, should ensure that they continue to hold a valid passport from their home country.
If your foreign passport is expiring in India, they should get their passport renewed or replaced at their countries embassy in
India.
OCI holders living in India with expired foreign passports, may be considered to be in the country illegally.
