497. Six month passport validity requirement to enter India . . .
Questions: Dear Mr Virendar,
Thank you for taking this time to read my mail. I would really appreciate if you could throw some light on my query.
We currently reside in UK since last 5 years.
My wife's passport is expiring on 31st August 2013 and we are planning for a 3 week holiday in India during month of
March 2013.
We both have Indian Passports and our visas are fine as we have Indefinite visa.
Please let me know if that should be fine ???
Looking forward for a reply from youself.

Answer: Most countries have a rule that requires foreigners to have a passport with six month validity. However, I
don't think any country will refuse to admit their own citizens who hold a valid passport.
Even though you have Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) for UK, you still have Indian passports and continue to be
Indian citizens until you get British passports.
If you have doubts, you have the option of either renewing your passport before departure or confirming with the
concerned consulate that you can travel without problems.
Enjoy your holiday in India.
