Q714. Aadhaar card Service Centres for OCI holders in Kerala . . .

Question: Dear Sir\Madam,

I am a Singapore Citizen and holding OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) Card.

I would like to apply for Aadhar card.

What documents should I submit for the application?

Should I submit any address proof for my address in India? For Indian address proof, I only have my SSLC Certificate.

My Birth Cert was issued by Indian high commission in Singapore, based on the particulars in my old Cancelled Indian

passport. Is this can be used as a proof.

Is there any Aadhar Card Service Centres for OCI holders, in Kerala?

If yes, can you give me the contact details?

Thanks and regards,

Sujith Bhasi.

Answer: From your email, it appears that you are visiting rather than living in India on a full time basis. If this indeed is the case, then please be advised although citizenship of the applicant does not matter and even foreigners can apply and get Aadhaar card, there is a stipulation that the applicant should be resident in India. Aadhaar is meant for establishing unique identity of those residing in India. Aadhaar card does not for grant citizenship nor can it be used as proof of Indian citizenship. If you live permanently now in India, you can certainly apply for Aadhaar card. Which is why must submit your address in India or your application will be rejected. A complete list of acceptable documents from Aadhaar card applicants is posted on Nri Information, To view the list Click Here. For information on How to apply for Aadhaar card Check Here Aadhaar Card Center’s for OCI holders Regarding your query whether there are any separate Aadhaar Card service centre’s for OCI holders, the answer is no. About two years ago there was a push and a lot of advertisements for people to enroll for Aadhaar cards. Many temporary service centre’s were opened all across India. Now I find, that many such centre’s have closed and one has to try and find the Aadhaar enrollment location near them where they can apply. So you will have to check the Internet and when you come up with locations, confirm they are still open before going there.
